Holiday Shopping~

I would like to encourage you all to remember these 4 things as you shop:
1. Shop Local
2. Shop Homemade
3. Shop Liberty (buy from liberty-minded people if you can find them...it's like keeping the money in the family so to speak.)
4. Stay Warm!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

(embedded video)

I hope that you all had a good Thanksgiving, we went to
Papa & Grandma's for a late lunch.

This was the first time in a long time that we had a new
relative: Jimmy. (if you remember, Jimmy married my Aunt back in June, click here)

I think that it was past time for a new person in the family, and we are glad that Jimmy is here now! =)
(and he's a joker!)

We accidentally left the camera at P&G's so you will have to check back later for the photographs.

It is cold now!

Today was the very first day of the season to wear tights!

Unfortunately, I did not think about having Mom take a posed picture of me, so that you could really see my Teal Old Navy tights (thanks Aunt Laura!) and my Gray Liz Claiborne sweater with the striped (fun colors) elbows (I got for free last year)!

Thanksgiving decor~

Thanksgiving is coming up fast, what are your decor plans? Do you want to know what we saw at Target yesterday?!?!

An old fashioned paper "honeycomb"/pop-up table top turkey (and for only $3)!!!
(he looks like this bird, click here)

I wanted it so badly, and Mom offered to buy it, but I said no...I'll just dream about Tommy The Table Top Thanksgiving Turkey*!
If we were hosting Thanksgiving at our house, or I had little kids, I would have said yes! But we are going to Papa & Grandma's and I KNOW that Tommy The Table Top Thanksgiving Turkey* would never fly. That kind of thing is sooo NOT Grandma.

But if it is your kind of thing, hurry down to Target and bring your Tommy The Table Top Thanksgiving Turkey* home for Thanksgiving! (He would live with your family for years!)

*Tommy The Table Top Thanksgiving Turkey, is the name that I gave him, not the name on the package.

(as an after note: Mom and I went to Wal*mart, after the holiday, and they had a whole flock of paper Turkeys! They weren't on sale, but they were only $1.25ish, so I bought 2. =)

"Cream" Soup

(the Julie & Julia playlist/video is embedded in this post)

"Cream" of Broccoli (& a few homegrown green-beans tossed in too) Soup with sauteed fresh, home grown organic squash & EV olive oil.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My quick recipe:
I just cooked one bag of frozen
(Costco) organic broccoli (or about the same quantity of other veg) in one tub of good homemade chicken broth, with a lot of butter, garlic, salt & pepper, added some extra gelatin. Stick-blended it, and called it done! (NOT a real Cream soup!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The dressing is homemade Cranberry~Apple Sauce* (made with butter, cinnimon, stevia and a bit of xylitol), mixed with EV olive oil. And the whole thing is topped with organic home-roasted peanuts and Costco's bacon bits. (The lettuce is Costco's organic baby lettuce.)

*the apples were organic, but not the cranberries
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next time I made "cream" soup, I made 2 kinds at the same time:
1. Broccoli (organic) -Carrot & TOO much fresh garlic
and
2. Cauliflower (organic) & organic ground & toasted Sunflower seeds
Soup number one was not so good, but too many veggies for the amount of broth...
Soup number two was REALLY good! So, I mixed them both together, and got a reasonable tasting soup. We jazzed it up by adding some of those Costco Bacon bits, and Tillamook cheese (also from Costco) to each serving! Dad wanted everyone to know that that is paint on his fingers, NOT soup!
Happy Birthday, Joshua!
Happy Birthday to my (only really and truly) big brother...
...you were fun to grow up with (for the most part!)...
...a sweet brother...we had some great fun, didn't we?!
Our first picnic in the brand-new FORT that Dad made us...
(I remember it well. I had fun, but was scared because I was sitting next to the door way, and I thought that I may fall out, because we were SO high up in the air!)
Happy 28th Birthday Big Brother!
Kelli came over...
...to redeem the gift certificate I gave her for her birthday.
~One Night in the Sparest of Spare Rooms~
=)
...we baked some Nan (sp?) and some Coconut Macaroons. ...and we did dishes!
And we watched Tangled & What The Deaf Man Heard. (...staying up entirely too late!)
Fergie loved Kelli very much~ sorry Kelli! I hope that you did not have any long-term side effects! =]
Tangled~
The pros:
It was well made, a cross between a cartoon and a play. VERY play like~that I loved very much! =)
I wish that I had seen it in the theater...that would have been a lot of fun!
The Cons:
I'll admit it, I was expecting a fairytale, so I was disappointed, I thought that is was pretty much like any other romantic comedy. I would not let my little kids watch it.
My favorite song: "Mother Knows Best" (click here), I thought that it was a sweet song.
"...Skip the drama,
Stay with mama..."
It made me think of something from the Broadway show Annie, or something like that...
My second & third are "The Kingdom Dance" and "I've got a Dream".
....and we talked and talked...and made hot tea... Thanks so much for coming over, Kelli!
Pears I've known...
Remember how I told you about all the pears that we got from our neighbor? Well, we are finally done putting them up. To read the whole post, and see all the pictures, you will need to go over to: Dunbar Creek Farm and Mercantile. =)
(It's funny how God puts little faces on and in things? Just keep your eyes open and you too will find them!)
It has come to my attention...
...that people who are e-mail subscribes to my blog, are not able to view the embedded YouTubes from the comfort of their own inbox's. Indeed, they don't even know that there is anything missing from the post. =(
(and I post quite a few embedded YouTubes)
So, I shall try very hard to remember to say something that would make you think that I had posted a YouTube, in case you should want to come over to my little blog and see what you missed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have found that some people do not like The Magnificent Seven, but you have to admit that the music is wonderful, and you can listen to it here:

...I would NOT recommend watching more than the first movie...

Happy Birthday...

...little brother!

Home from the hospital:

(I remember visiting you in the hospital,
and I remember when Dad brought you home.)

Babysitting baby Benjamin:
(I think that Joshua and I "babysat" you like this more than one time.)

And then you grew up...
...you stayed cute....
...but my, how you grew!

Happy 25th Birthday Benjamin!
(silly boy!)

Mrs. Schatte's party~

Hannah & I gave Mrs. Schatte an early Birthday party!
25 ladies were in attendance. =)
(We got the invitations free at vistaprint.com)

This was the way I wanted to hang the door decor...

...but this is how it ended up!

(organic) Yummy Earth Lollipop party favors:

Hannah prepared all the lovely food~

~good job Hannah!

Me & Hannah. Hannah & Me. Adrienne & Hannah. Hannah & I.
(how should I say it?)

(I look like I work at Target, lol!)

I wish that I had someone who would come to my parties,
and bring their fancy camera and take lots good of photos for me....
then maybe I could put them in the party book I will write someday.

I printed our own money holder cards! The outside:

And the insides:
(I cut a slit/pocket in the card and shoved the money in it)

The game was an old fashioned game, from some time between 1905 & 1935.
It was a "Berry Contest".

(Thank you Mom for letting us have the party at your house,
and for helping me get ready for it!)

The birthday "cake"!!! =)
(Even I could eat it!)

The table cloth was a piece of corduroy fabric, that was rib side down~
I like the way it turned out!

We hope that you have a
really good year, Mrs. Schatte!

John Hay

"The evils of tyranny are rarely seen
but by him who resists it."
-- John Hay
(1838-1905) American statesman, diplomat, author, journalist, and private secretary and assistant to Abraham Lincoln
1872

...for reader's comments:
http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/John.Hay.Quote.D3D6
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After reading about Mr. Hay, I don't necessarily think that his view of who the tyrants are is the same as mine.
But all the same, it sounds like he lead a very interesting life (I wonder how he slept at night):
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/John_Hay
"...Abraham Lincoln's law office was next door to the law office of Milton Hay, John's uncle, and Lincoln thus became acquainted with John Hay. When Lincoln won election as president, his secretary, recommended John Hay to Lincoln as assistant private secretary.
Thus at age 22 he began a lifelong career in government
, except for a journalism stint from 1870-78...."
