When
you see images of Martin Luther King Jr. marching in Birmingham -
remember a court ordered him NOT to protest in the city. He was breaking
the law.
MLK's
idea of non-violence did not include obeying unjust laws. He was not
violent. But he still protested against civil laws and authorities.
When
you think, protestors violating curfew deserve to be shot with rubber
bullets and tear gassed, or better yet, when you are silent on these
actions, then you side with an oppressive system. White silence is
violence.
