Raffa Fun Run 2014

I was planning to participate in the Raffa* Fun Run (well, the 1K walk) for the very first time this year, and I thought that selling a few of my Chocolate Cakes (from scratch- Organic & fair trade cocoa with chocolate cream cheese frosting), would be a good way to raise funds! =)

Then I had another thought~ make and sell Fudge!

This has been a fun, new experience for me~ thank you friends for showing your support in such a yummy, fun way!
And thank you Mom, for your love, support, help and listening ears.

  ......I'm pleased to report that I sold 14 lb of fudge and  and 14 cakes!         Yum, yum!

If my math was correct, this is about how I did:
$400 from friends buying Cake and Fudge
$125 from Relatives who live too far away to get cake or fudge

This is my "I'm almost done with my Raffa Run 2014 fundraising!" face!
 (I only have one last cake to bake- a birthday cake for E)

My First Marrage Proposal~

After (or while) eating my Chocolate Cake (Raffa fundraiser), Daniel declared:
"I guess I'm ready to marry Adrienne"
-Daniel Buttons
My reply?
First thought:  "That's Funny!"
 Second thought:  "Maybe we should wait a few years...."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
P.S. I just learned that:
"....the FIRST thing he said, before the proposal, as we were eating your delicious cake and talking about it was...well , I guess Adrienne must be an angel, cause this tastes heavenly!!! And then the I guess I better marry Adrienne. High spot of the day!!"
"Did your dog die?"
An all points bulletin: I have decided that using the phrase "Did your dog die" or anything like it shall be henceforth considered taboo. You never know what the person you just said that to is going  through or just dreamed about.  I realized this week that the few times I was told that it hit too near to home.  Friends: PLEASE forgive me for the times I  thoughtlessly spoke those words.  Thank you.
Please help~
Please consider helping out our dear friends (here) ~ it's hard enough when a family looses their home, but when your home is quite damaged, and have such losses to your family business (working ranch) & only income source ....that is really hard and you need Friends, Family, Neighbors and Strangers to help you get on your feet again!   The Hutchins have been working the Ranch for 19 years. (We've known them for like 21+ years...)
Thank you Lord, for keeping the family safe in the storm, and for your protection as they (& their friends) clean up and rebuild.  Amen.
(This photo is a little old- it is short a few in-laws & grandchildren.)
 "Please help the Robert and Nancy Hutchins Family and their family business, Rehoboth Ranch, recover from the tornado which struck their home and ranch April, 3rd 2014. The complete scope of damage is currently unknown. Their house was severely damaged; losing most of the roof, causing interior ceilings to fall in and resulting in significant water damage. All of the barns were completely destroyed and the dairy sustained significant damage as well. Most of the moveable chicken pens were destroyed including the "egg mobiles" and the laying flock was destroyed. Please see the Rehoboth Ranch Facebook page for more details and pictures.
Rehoboth Ranch is the Hutchins family livelihood, and beyond the basic repair cost, this will seriously impair their ability earn their living. Any donations, great or small will be appreciated, but most of all your prayers are coveted during this time."
RIP dear old hand-mixer~
This was my family's 3 hand-mixer in 32 years, and possibly my favorite.....we mixed countless cookies together....numerous cakes together...tons of chocolate candy together...lots of cheesecakes together....pounds and POUNDS of butter together...piles of almond buns together....pans and pans of brownies together.....fantastic amounts of frosting together. Sigh.
The timing was Providential though- I had just finished baking 4 Chocolate Cakes for Raffa, and was just declaring the double batch of chocolate cream cheese frosting to be done, and it died.
What a way to go! With your boots on, making delicious frosting!
Together is such a nice word.
With my hand-mixer in mind, I've listed a few of the definitions below:
In a relationship, association, business, or agreement.
* Taken or considered collectively or conjointly.
* At the same time; simultaneously.
* Without intermission or interruption; continuously; uninterruptedly: for days together.
* In cooperation; with united action; conjointly: to undertake a task together.
* With mutual action.
