~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I forgot to post this one during the event...I believe that this ad is from the 1960's.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~(Song links & embedded videos today!)~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My mind is a little blank as to what movies came out in the 1970's.
So to start off, how about a Canadian Nabisco "Golden Honeys" cereal commercial
:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've got one!! "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" (1977)! =)
I will only watch the original Pooh shows, and I am planning to boycott the "new" ones as long as I live! So there! =)

I don't think that I'll ever outgrow the Classic Winnie the Pooh! Watch the Intro here:

Would you like to sing-a-long with Tigger? You can do it here:

In honor of my 300th post I'll be hosting some giveaways, and I (so far) don't mind shipping overseas, assuming that the shipping won't break the bank! =)
Stay tuned!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following 2 hairdo pictures and ad came from www.squidoo.com
This little lady looks so charming~
She's cute! =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the 1976-1981 TV show, Charlie's Angels, the "Angels" are (women) Detectives...so they have lots of great hair & clothes, etc... I would not recommend this show for children, but I think that it's fun to watch once in a while! =)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you ever wonder what you would look like with a really different hair do? ...thinking of me with an afro makes me just crack up! =) It's not that I particularly like the Jackson 5, I liked their hair, here are a couple of songs: "I'll Be There" and "Frosty The Snowman".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think that we would all agree that this is a good cause to wear a watch:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love lip-gloss~ how about you? Max Factor:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next 3 photos came from www.fashion-pictures.com

Sometime I'd like a similarly easy going, pulled together set. Not these colors though! =)

I'd like one of each of these, thank you.

I like this blue dress with the short jacket! =)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We used to use the "Spray&Wash" stain stick, but now I like Life Tree's "Home Soap" better:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Need some new boots? Take your pick! (I think that I prefer the brown lace-up.)

Baking Thursday~ 1970's

Food! Glorious, Food! (Song links & embedded videos today!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
$4.99 for dinner for a family of 4?!? Wow....I guess that the "Banksters" have been busy inflating the money supply...
Grocery commercial from across the pond:
My hungry men prefer homemade, but I guess that canned soup is much better than fast food!
Don't forget to eat your Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I remember getting to eat "tinned" Ravioli once in a BLUE moon~ we thought it was fun!
(but not as much fun as
"Uh-oh, Spaghetti-O's"!)

Charlotte's Web (1973): A Veritable Smorgasbord is is my favorite song from this movie. (Mom saw it it the theater when it first came out!)

1977 Sonic Drive-in:

I've never had SPAM before...I'd like to try it someday before I die. =)

Random Wednesday~ 1970's

1976~ Ah, Mom! I want to go to Toy City!

Click here to see more fun Toy Store photos from the 70's & 80's!

1971: Daisy BB Gun's 100th anniversary handgun~ Dad got one of these babies for Christmas, and the first thing that he went out and shot was the neighbor's Christmas lights. (bad boy!) Later on in life, he gave it to me! (I was a better shot than my brothers.)

Everyone loves Slinkies!!! Watch this 1977 ad:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"House at Pooh Corner" is the title of a song that was written by Kenny Loggins, based on the popular children's book of the same name. The song was first performed by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970:
Crafty Tuesday~ 1970's
Who all has this book, "Indian Crafts and Lore"? It came out in 1972.
We did, we would pour over it for hours~ again it was a "hand-me-down" from my Great-grandmother.
When we first moved to East Texas, we got to go to our very first "Pilgrim Day". It was put together by the homeschool group, and usually at the same family's house. We helped Dad & Mom make our costumes the night before, and this was what we copied for mine, right down to the blue flowers painted on the back, and the fringe and tassels!
(Don't you hate it when Google decides that your photo(s) HAVE to be posted wrong!)
We loved plotting out face painting procedures and designs....although we never did any of them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Someone gave us one of these craft panels, I got the Chicks and Benjamin got the Hen. I put a bell in each chick, and gave them to 3 deserving babies in church at the time!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I never watched "Pete's Dragon", but I love this song:
Fun Monday~ 1970's
Warning/Disclaimer: I would not recommend the first 2 shows for children.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mork & Mindy
, 1978-1982

For a slice of 1970's cultural experience, watch Mork & Mindy! "....A wacky alien comes to Earth to study its residents, and the life of the human woman he boards with is never the same...."
I like Mindy's hair-do's and most of her clothes! We own the series. Mom watched it when she was young and mentions she had jeans like that, etc.
Here is a cute (& short) clip you can watch: The Egg scene! (I love the theme song, but I could not find a clip of it to share it with you...)
Nanoo Nanoo.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Good Life, or sometimes known as Good Neighbors, 1975-1978
Tom & Barbara Good and Jerry & Margo Ledbetter
"...The perils of "escaping the rat race" and dropping out of society - to start a farm in Surbiton..."
The Good's are farming in the city, and their best friends and next door neighbors the Ledbetters just don't get it. =) Tom & Barbra are so sweet! My parents watched the reruns on PBS in the mid 1980's, and Dad likes to whistle the tune that Tom does...I wonder if my Man could/would learn to do it, too? We own this series as well. Too bad the show didn't last very long.
Click here to listen to/watch the opening titles~ I never skip it when watching the show. =)
And here is a good clean clip you can watch: Would you like some bread with that cheese?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AND
Bonanza!, 1959- 1973

"...The adventures of Ben Cartwright and his sons as they run and defend their ranch while helping the surrounding community. ..."
I don't understand the people who just LOVED Little Joe (spoiled brat)...I like Hoss & Adam MUCH better! The sad news is that the Ponderosa Ranch at Lake Tahoe closed down...the happy news is that we got to go one time (in 1999 when we were visiting mom's dad and grandmother)! Tahoe...fond childhood memories for mom. And we3. =)

Bonanza Theme Song:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Carolyn Haywood (January 3, 1898 - January 11, 1990) was an American author and illustrator from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Haywood published 47 children's books, most notably the series under the "Eddie" and "Betsy" titles."
I bought and read my first (and only) Betsy book YEARS ago, and then just a few years ago, I stumbled upon the Eddie books, not even knowing that they were by the same author! I liked the Betsy book and I LOVE the Eddie books, I was getting them from the library and interlibrary loan...I've not read them all, but someday I will! =) (Eddie & Gardenia takes place in Texas!)
Historical Sunday~ 1970's
(in today's post, rather than finding something in the 1970's, I opted for 1968/1999)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The 1999 trial, King Family versus Jowers and Other Unknown Co-Conspirators, was probably the Trial of The Century...and it was pretty much ignored by the press.

Q: Why do I think that our Government had anything to do with MLK's death, and James E. Ray was innocent?

A: Well, because if you listen to the reports & look at all the pictures, you will see that MLK was not shot from the bathroom window like They say. He was shot from higher up. Sniper style....like JFK's fishy looking assassination.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere!" (MLK)
"Silence is consent" (MLK)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The following is excerpted from DailyCensored.com

"...The King family believes the government’s motivation to murder Dr. King was to prevent his imminent camp-in at Washington, D.C. until the Vietnam War was ended and those resources directed to end poverty and invest in US hard and soft infrastructure....

...Coretta Scott King, Dr. King’s wife, is certain of the evidence after 30 years of consideration from the 1968 assassination to the 1999 trial:

“For a quarter of a century, Bill Pepper conducted an independent investigation of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. He opened his files to our family, encouraged us to speak with the witnesses, and represented our family in the civil trial against the conspirators. The jury affirmed his findings, providing our family with a long-sought sense of closure and peace, which had been denied by official disinformation and cover- ups. Now the findings of his exhaustive investigation and additional revelations from the trial are presented in the pages of this important book. We recommend it highly to everyone who seeks the truth about Dr. King’s assassination.” — Coretta Scott King, Dr. King’s wife."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Martin Luther King, Why I Am Opposed to the War in Vietnam. (click here to listen)
FYI: I don't necessarily agree with all Dr. King's views (esp on poverty)...
And did you know that because of his Anti-Vietnam War stance, MLK was branded a "Communist"? Wow...that's sad. Talk about Character Assassination!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This song (ballad) is based upon the book "An Act of State" by King family lawyer, William Pepper. The book tells the story of the trial that Pepper won on behalf of the King family in 1999 in a Memphis court where a jury of 6 black and 6 white jurors unanimously found Loyd Jowers and unnamed government conspirators guilty of murdering Martin Luther King. Embedded:

Rather than an act of hate, King's murder was an act of state.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next is a short clip from a lecture by William Pepper, attorney for the King family in the MLK conspiracy trial - which was won by the King family. He discusses the assassination of MLK as described in the book he wrote about it: "An Act Of State - The Assassination Of Martin Luther King".
Embedded:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

An independent journalist named Jim Douglass, who covered the entire 1999 trial wrote:

According to a Memphis jury’s verdict on December 8,1999, in the wrongful death lawsuit of the King family versus Loyd Jowers "and other unknown co-conspirators," Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated by a conspiracy that included agencies of his own government. Almost 32 years after King’s murder at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis on April 4, 1968, a court extended the circle of responsibility for the assassination beyond the late scapegoat James Earl Ray to the United States government.... excerpted from: Mr. Douglass's article, found HERE.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are really interested, you can find the transcript of the civil trial the King family won against the US government HERE.
"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well." ~MLK Jr.
Matinee Saturday~ 1960's
Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn, Charade~ 1963
Would you like to scare yourself? Assuming you aren't hard to scare, you should watch Charade! =)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rex Harrison & Audrey Hepburn, My Fair Lady~ 1964
Click here to listen to my favorite song! =) In the last few years we have celebrated Eliza Doolittle day, the 20th of May. See photos from 2010, here...and 2011, here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dick Van Dyke & Julie Andrews, Mary Poppins~ 1964
Don't we all love Mary & Burt?! Growing up we rarely watched movies, but we did have about 7 that we watched over and over and over again. (They were Puss & Boots-1988, Mary Poppins-1964, Errol Flynn's Robin Hood-1938, Old Yeller-1957, Lassie Come Home-1943, Rascal-1969, Swiss Family Robinson-1960)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dean Jones & Yvette Mimieux, Monkeys Go Home!~ 1967
I really like this one~ I laugh every time I watch it! =)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched this movie Good Morning Vietnam for the first time ever this week (with a ClearPlay.com filter, for language). This movie came out in 1987, and is set in 1965 Saigon, South Vietnam...
I found this a rather depressing movie, but it was interesting. In it, Robin Williams plays a DJ, for the US Military radio station. Williams did a wonderful job~ that man is so talented...he can really make you feel all the pain/joy/sorrow/wonder in any story (movie) he plays in. I just wish his mouth was cleaner...
One last thought~
I LOVE the music in the Magnificent Seven (1960):
Fashionable Friday~ 1960's
(embedded videos today!)
Like last week, I just did a photo search and "ran around" snatching photos of clothes & stuff I liked. If you click on the words above each photo they will take you to the source. (note: I did not really read the sites & posts...)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would have to wonder if of all the decades I've posted about (or maybe even in the whole last century), the 1960's had the most dramatic changes in the fashion industry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dressing Vintage(click for more views) brings you this lovely little number:
"You will love the neutral pale beige tone of this pretty vintage Carlye 60's dress! The knife pleated skirt falls from the drop waist and the bodice was created from lace, ribbon applique and pearls & rhinestones! Ethereal beauty!"
Want to dry your hair in just 22 minutes? Try one of these:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This apparently is one of those modern new "life-like" mannequins....kind of looks like Laura Petrie, doesn't she?

This one just makes me want to laugh! PETA now recommends walking your Turkeys, no less than 5 hours per day. Using a leash is recommended, if you wish to keep your pet safe. (Especially when hunting season is open...) And if you wear a kind of crazy dress at the same time, your photo could end up on the front page of the newspaper.

Doortje:
(I'll bet you can guess which pictures I saved this one for!)

Use a clothes dryer & make it a GAS dryer:

Helen Uffner Vintage Clothing:

Fergie wanted to be in this photo, with my Pretty Yellow Hat that Sarah H. got me for my birthday a few back....I guess that it's a '60s hat. (The wide yellow ribbon is the best: it's velvet!)
