(or you can buy it from CBD here or Amazon here)...Mom read this book to me when I was very small, and I am now rereading it for the 2nd time.  I don't sit down and guzzle it...I just read a part of a chapter every week or so. I think that it's good for me.  I also think that every family should own one or more copies.

"....She who has an ideal character is first of all pure and true, them earnest and sincere, patient and gentle, and more ready to serve than to be served. It is easier to build bad than good character....Choose well as the days go by. Build for all time, not just for present pleasure.  What you are building will bring you praise and satisfaction all your life, or it will be your curse and disgrace....
"Is it right?"  "Would it be for my good?"  "Does it meet the approval of my parents?"  "Is it glorifying to God?"  are questions which you should be continually asking yourself as you decide what to do and what to leave undone....Christ is our Perfect Pattern, and only those who form their lives after Him are building the best character...."

James 3:5-13
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.  For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:  But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.  Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.  Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.  Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?  Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.  Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

I also read a few choice chapters to the boys, too. Character building is for everyone! Especially for parents.

I love you, honey!

Hi!

My mom showed me your blog a little while ago, so, until now, I've been following silently. : )

How encouraging it is that God gives us many verses in His Word to help us fend off and take captive wrong thoughts that will lead to wrong words! Verses like Philippians 4:8 and Ephesians 4:29 have been quite helpful to me! :)

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away" (Matthew 24:35).

Also, Hebrews 13:8:
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

I have found these verses to be especially comforting to me. When what you have seen suddenly becomes so unsteady, it certainly is encouraging to remember how steady and certain the Word of God is!

Blessings,
Lauren : )
